During our visit to the Pyrenees, we stayed in the village of Gavarnie, at the entrance of the famous Cirque du Gavarnie. This impressive amphitheater-like valley contains at its end the Gavarnie falls, which are at 422 m the highest waterfalls of
Europe France.
Well, of France maybe, but in the high North there are many more, both in overall altitude as well as in single free fall: http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_over_norske_fosser; also Switzerland comes before in the list: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_höchsten_Wasserfälle
