Nepal: Festival of light

One of the lucky coincidences during our time in Nepal was the festival of light, Tihar (similar to the indian Diwali), which took place during our stay in Kathmandu. For this occasion almost all houses and even animals were decorated with orange carnations, which were sold on every street corner. You might have noticed them alerady in the previous gallery. In addition, the entrance of almost every house was decorated with small oil candles, flowers and colors, transforming the whole city.

Nepal I

Last November we went for three weeks to Nepal, two of which we spent hiking in the Himalaya. It was a wonderful experience, not last because we were extremely lucky with the weather and had spectacular views to the mountains almost the whole time. As you can imagine, I took a lot of pictures (one of the reasons why I haven't posted for some time ...). Here a first small selection, I'm gonna post many more in the weeks to come. Hope you enjoy!

Autumn in Taunus

Last week, we packed our backpacks and headed out to the Taunus, to get prepared for our approaching journey to Nepal. The weather looked rather drab when we were in the train. However, once we reached the mountains and forests of the Taunus, it turned out that the misty atmoshpere together with the wonderfully colorful autumn leaves created a mysterious and fairytale-like mood.

My first post

I was recently promoted! From a humble lens carrier to officially-named assistant photographer - my sincere gratitude to the owner of this blog for the honor and the hospitality! I guess the passive learning all these years, the luck of the first time and the colorful saris helped for these four (out of ?!§$) good photos! I hope you like them! It was real fun trying to figure out all the camera buttons, apertures and ISOs, the lenses, the light, the right angles, and all the 'colors and contrasts', and to try to capture some moments of all these happy people at Kasia's and Anand's wedding. And of course a clear realization how much work this whole photography business is! I guess I will be going soon back to my jewelry making :) Cu soon (?), Ioanna
